Making a deep bow while looking at the sun setting over the western mountain
Baeilchi
(Gwangjeon-ri, Hanbando-myeon, Yeongwol-gun, Gangwon-do)
During the exiles, this head of a slope was where King Danjong thought of the high-spirited Sammun Seong and got off the palanquin to look at the sun setting over the western mountain. He made a deep bow to extend his thanks to the spirits of the six martyred ministers who protected him until now and also wishing for the future destiny that lied ahead of him. Since this head was where King Danjong made a bow while looking at the sun, it is called Baeilchi.
