Yeongwol Danjong State Funeral to be presented at the stage of the Olympics

State funeral ceremony, the representative festive event of Yeongwol to honor the spirit of Danjong, the 6th King of Chosun Dynasty and his faithful subjects will be held in Gangneung, two times on February 12 and 22, during the Pyeongchang Olympics.

The street parade with the state funeral ceremony of Danjong, under the theme of ‘King of Gangwon’ will be participated by many citizens of Yeongwol-gun and other attendees who applied for the event online to be part of a successful cultural event at Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. It will be a wonderful chance to introduce rituals of the state funeral of the Royal family of Chosun Dynasty to the world.

Especially, a huge marionette of King Danjong in 5m height and 1.2m width will be displayed at the funeral, catching the attention of the audience.
